Recently there has been a new technology out that uses lasers to etch or engrave the labels into the fruit or vegetables. They talk about this more here at psfk.com where a new energy efficient laser beam can make the labels without having to use a paper label.
If you think about, those paper labels need the adhesive material, the paper material itself, and the ink for the markings on the paper. Do you think this is good for the environment? No , I don’t and I agree with psfk.com that its too much of a waste. This laser etching method seems like a good way to stop using all those materials for each and every piece of fruit or vegetables.
Right now, the laser etching is being used through many other countries but is going through examination in the United States. I will try and let everyone know here when the FDA approves it.
