Stained Glass And Etching

Posted on June 14, 2010 by Eric Robert Posted in Blog Content

As you may know, there are a lot of cool and interesting types of glass art out there for us to discover. Even more interesting is we can mix various glass arts together. A lot of my web site’s visitors are coming from the stained glass industry. By combining etching with stained glass can open up a whole new world of opportunities when creating amazing art. So I am here to explain how you can use these different styles to etch glass listed below:

  • Sand blasting process
  • Chemical Cream process
  • Acid Hydrofluoric process

Sandblasting the glass is probably the most interesting to me because you can etch with a whole bunch of different techniques, and it really is an amazing art form once you master this.  It can involve shading, multi-stage sandcarving, or just regular surface blasting.

To get an idea from everyone, please post what your interested in learning about and if you are familiar with any of these techniques.  Most of you are coming here with an interest in stained glass so I would like to share my etching hobby also.  Please leave a comment below.  Thanks
