Tiger Mirror Shadeblasted

Posted on October 4, 2012 by Dave Schulte Posted in Blog Content, Glass Art Spotlight 10 Comments

I did this mirror to help a friend learn how I do them. I kind of screwed up the leaves on the edges though. I didn’t have a really clear vision in my head of how I wanted it to look. Was thinking moonlight through leaves and blasted the leaves as negatives using stencils I cut. I should have blasted the leaves as positives though I think. It doesn’t look bad but not what I was after. Looks more like fog than moonlight..lol

Dave, Fog or moonlight, happy accidents made for a fantastic looking piece of art. I would love to see the process you went through to create such a fine piece. Thankx for sharing with us all.

Lol…I’m going to start a mirror of my 1 yr. old granddaughter in the next week or so as soon as we get the pics back from the photographer. I will make a tutorial with pics and short vids when I do it. I’m going to get the pic printed on vinyl this time to speed up the cutting process. I’ll get with Eric and see about getting it posted in the member area. I’ll have to shoot the video with my Iphone though because I don’t have a video camera. I’m no techno geek so I’ll need a little help with the video part.

It’s beautiful and I think it does look like moonlight. Don’t be so hard on yourself! Love it. You are so talented!

Beautiful work Dave. Hopefully I’ll be at your level of artistry someday. I going to try and build me a micro sandblasting gun, something like the one you were talking about. Thank you for all your posts!!
