As you may know, you can also use this kit with your sandblaster to etch the designs into the surface. Just be sure that you only surface etch them for two reasons:

  • Thin Stencils: These are thinner stencils so they will only hold up to light air pressures and fine abrasive about 180-220.
  • Can Shatter: This is because tempered glass is prone to shattering when etched too deep as discussed here.

I have etched coasters. I used small mirrors that you can also set candles on. Right now it seems that no one wants them. i tried selling them at craft fairs to no luck even though I do good work, to which people are impressed, but do not want to buy. It is a niche market and frustrating.

Do you have any instructions on how to use photoshop cs6 in process of etching glass. I am an Elk and want to etch a mirror for the lodge with the head of an elk.

Scott, I know what you mean. Sometimes it depends on what design or theme is etched on the coaster, not necessarily the product etched. What type of designs do you etch? I would think monogrammed initials would be marketable, but I have not tested.

Paul, we have instructions on similar programs that correlates to photoshop. Are you trying to do halftones or just logo work?

Thanks so much for all your great advice. I bought some more stencils on Amazon and picked up some glasses at the Dollar tree. So now I am etching some gifts for the holidays.

    Much appreciated.
