Birth Announcement Sandblasted Mirror and Painted

Posted on May 17, 2018 by Eric Robert Posted in Blog Content, Glass Art Spotlight 7 Comments

Sheila is the latest awesome subscriber to send in her work here. She stated that she frequently sandblasted the backside of the mirror and paints the frosted areas.

To go along with this another idea she shared that you could do is to make birth announcement mirrors. I like the idea because it is a great memento for the birth of your child! She the project she shared below.

In this framed mirror birth announcement, she used a whimsical floral design with butterflies. Then she has the baby’s name at top, the date of birth, and the weight of the baby in pounds and ounces. It makes a unique and creative gift for someone who recently gave birth!

I really like the mix of the contrasting opaque painted colors within the reflective mirror.

It looks like she used a beveled mirror. The idea makes me think about using one of those thick beveled mirror plates that I used to get inexpensively at Walmart and placing it within a frame. A frame may have to be custom made to fit correctly.

Thank you, Shelia for sharing! Everyone else, please leave her some comments or questions below. Thank you

The etched area is painted. The dark area in the photo is the mirror reflection of a black board when taking the photo to highlight the contrast.
