Glass Sandcarving Art of Shark, Model and Dragon by Kyle Goodwin

Posted on September 25, 2019 by Eric Robert Posted in Blog Content, Glass Art Spotlight, Sandcarving Examples 9 Comments

Hello all- we have another great glass sandcarving artist to feature this week: Kyle Goodwin. He is one of the first people I connected with when starting this blog and his art is amazing! He was featured with his T-Rex sandcarving here and I helped him create a video of some of his work here.

He shared the below work with us recently and wow, it is spectacular.

Multi-Color LED Lit Glass Sandcarving

glass sandcarving of comic book character

This first one is unique because he uses a variety of LED colors beautifully placed on the side of the glass to highlight the sandcarved areas. It depicts a comic book character with the LED colors: red, yellow, purple, blue and green. Some of the led colors appear to blend in with each other to create different hues- WOW!

Then the below shows the whole view including the bottom. It is quite large and had to have taken quite a bit of time to finish. Click on the image to see a close up of the detail.

Great White Shark Sandcarved

The below is an excellent sandcarving of a shark. It is quite realistic looking. Click on the image to see a larger view.

Sea Serpent Dragon Carved Etched Glass

The below shows another perfectly etched art piece of a sea serpent dragon. It uses the sandcarving process with some shading techniques.

I get paid to etch and carve on glass every day and I think of myself as rather good at it . After seeing your work I feel like a fraud and it’s clear that there’s much better artists in this world .Thank you Mr. Goodman for making me want to be better you are truly talented!

Kyle’s work is up there with the best. Awesome work as always sir. Hope to make it to your shop some day to say hello. Bravo! Love em all but that shark and serpent are my faves. I’m a water guy!

@Dave S, I am sorta a water guy too which is another reason I like your stuff also. I also have to apologize that I haven’t sent you that sandblaster foot pedal yet. It seems every week I tell myself I am going to finally get around to it and a hundred different tasks come on my desk to work on! I actually sent Kyle the foot pedal several years ago to test also but it wasn’t right for him since he needed something of higher volume output and I know some of his glass pieces are rather large. It is possible that you might benefit from it.

@Cetric, I am sure everyone here would enjoy your work. It is always good to see the different styles from person to person.
